A charming book written by an excellent author, Jennifer L. Holm. It was intense but smooth through-out the book and I loved it! I have never been a fan of realistic fiction, but this book just made me want to keep reading more! This enchanting story that is set in 1953 inside an Italian family living in America. It is about a delightful and rumbuntious 11 year old girl who wants what every kid wants in the summer; butter-pecan ice cream, swimming, and base-ball. But this summer is full of unpleasant surprises. For starters, her uncle who plays base-ball with her is living in a car. She can’t go swimming because her mother is afraid she will catch polio at the pool. This is turning out really bad, huh? There are some really heart-warmingmoments in this book though. I loved this book and I am sure you will to!

Can we all take a moment to consider this very special day…. MY SISTER’S B-DAY!!!!! She won’t admit it but she was spoilt!!!!!! With a total of a million presents, she was extremely happy and satisfied at the end of the day. Let me explain from the beginning of last night.
Well, my mom and I raced down to I-Party at 8:39pm to find out they close at 9:00pm! OMG! We raced through that store like monsters, grabbing a pinata, party tooters, any gift bag we can find and then still having to buy candy! After, that we went to our local Stop&Shop and bought 2 singing cards, and a ton of other cards, a bunch of pink and white flowers, and finally the final addition….. the absolutely, fabulous, awesome, and many other words like ANNOYING!!!!! singing Disney Princess balloon! It sings this Happy Birthday song but, I think it is CInderella, it sings it in this catchy over-reactive joyful tune whenever you tap it. Well, this was a nightmare I mean, a beautiful gift! In a couple of weeks, we will regret this! After finally fitting it all in the trunk, we arrived back home and I got out the presents. It was quite a long list! A Jasmine doll, a Giselle doll, a magnetic dress up kit, and we can go on for a while! My mom, my dad (who was mainly blogging the whole time!), and I wrote all the cards, wrapped the gifts, and had a good joke. This kid had ALOT, I repeat ALOT, of birthday presents! Finally, after getting the whole shei-bang done, I went up stairs and got into bed and nodded off.
The next morning I woke to a singing card playing in my ear, and Lili, my sister, laughing her head off. (She perticually likes the Hallmark Hoops&Yoyo cards). Well, here it goes, my whole day, devoted to bowing, to her ohhhh roy-yal highness, doing her every word (and believe me, she has ALOT of words to say!!!!) but it was all for my little sister, I mean she did kinda deserve it.
We all went downstairs and saw the VERY large pile of gifts! You should-a seen that look on her face! It’s whole mouth fell through the floor and down to the basement!!!! After opening all her gifts, she decided to take a look at that balloon, which our VERY annoying cats had a LONG play with!!!! and oh, man did she like it. We are gonna start regretting!
At swimming lessons, my class worked on diving and my sisters sang happy birthday and Lili splashed like it was the last day of summer, which the weather makes it feel like that! Then we went home and Lili and me played on our brand new game console with our brand new game…. RATATOUILLE! After many tries, my Dad helped us get passed a REALLY HARD LEVEL!
Then I HAD to go to film camp, because this was our last day and I was in almost all the scenes that we were filming today. After camp I went to the roy-yal highness’s party, which was like all stylish people have, Disney Princess. Luckily she finallly settled on that theme, because before she said unicorn theme, then ballet theme, then Dora the Explorer theme and so on so forth. I got some delish cake and we all had a ball! I was so impressed with this birthday, even if it isn’t mine! Of course, the little kids put the party tooters in their noses and blowed balls of resedue into the tubes to try and toot them. Hahahahaha!
After cake we all went outside and played some games. The birthday girl chose all the games because, as she stated, she is in charge! We played Duck Duck Goose, Mother May-I, Hide-and-Seek, and the best part, with ribbons! My dad even got up and started playing with them! It was laughs all around! Finally we all had to go home, and Lili and I played non-stop and we had sausages, mash, butter-nut squash, and peas for dinner (as her roy-yal highness requested) and for dessert this slush swirl! Delish!!!!
Tonight I sit and think, this was a great family day!!!!!

Dear Dairy of Anne Bekker,
I have decided that it is time to lose some of my 300 pounds. I mean I can hardly go anywhere with this flubber being pulled along. So, I am going to lose weight the old-fashioned way; excersize, healthy food, and NO MORE HAMBURGERS or any other fast food! (*sob*sob* yes, I know the consicence). I am having my finale hamburger today at lunchtime. I am going with my sister to T.G.I Fridays and we are gonna lose weight together! Well wish me luck!
From your soon to be slimmer,
Anne Bekker
